The latest edition of the cycle “Dialogues with the Collection” is an exercise in finding artistic affinities between a work by the artist Lisette Pons (Barcelona, 1955) and a piece from the collection entitled Manifestacions de l’1 de febrer de 1976 (Demonstrations on 1 February 1976) by the photographer Manel Armengol (Badalona, 1949).
The aim of these dialogues is to provide a fresh look at the collection by establishing new points of contact between different artists, through either affinities or differences. On this occasion Lisette Pons juxtaposes the work Diálogos 101130 (Dialogues 101130), a shot of the sculpture Young People Seated by Johannes Hansen (1903-1995) located in Copenhagen, with a well-known photograph by Manel Armengol, showing policemen charging a group of people, among them, the pensioner Ferran Garcia Faria.
With this piece Lisette Pons is highlighting the cyclical nature of civilization, the reoccurrence of certain actions and the shame that we may feel as "civilized" people in the face of events that are constantly repeated, usually due to a lack of dialogue.
