Entry rules for prize: Painting award (2025)
Fundació Vila Casas has aimed to promote contemporary artists and disseminate their work ever since it was founded in 1998. Any artist who is over eighteen years old and born, or resident, in Catalonia may enter the competition. The artwork must be original, must not have previously been publicly exhibited, nor won any other competition. Participation in this competition supposes the acceptance of the conditions outlined herein and of the judges’ decision. 2. THEME The theme is open. 3. SUBMISSION OF WORKS In order for the artists’ works to be viewed, and potentially selected, by the judging panel, contestants must register at the webpage http://premis.fundaciovilacasas.com between 10th March and 11th May 2025. As outlined on the webpage, contestants must complete the corresponding form, provide the artist’s CV, the technical specifications and a brief description of the work, and an image of the work with a resolution of 300 dpi in TIFF format with a minimum size of 5Mb and a maximum size of 100Mb. SELECTION OF SHORTLISTED WORKS, EXHIBITION AND CATALOGUE The judging panel will review all the entries received, without access to the artists' identities, and make a selection of shortlisted works, which will be exhibited in the temporary exhibitions’ hall at Museu Can Framis from 22nd September to 26th October 2025. There will also be an accompanying catalogue. Finally, the judging panel will select the winning entry from the shortlisted works. 5. DIMENSIONS AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The painting must not exceed 200 x 200 cm in size, nor the sum of the two sides must not exceed 400 cm. 6. DELIVERY AND TRANSPORT OF WORKS The Foundation will contact the shortlisted artists by e-mail on 9th June 2025. The selected works must be delivered by 31st July 2025. Transport costs, for delivery and return of the work, along with any damage that may occur during transport of artworks, will be the full responsibility of the artist, and will at no time be the responsibility of the Foundation. Costs of insurance and packaging – which must be reusable for the return of the work – will be the responsibility, and at the risk, of the contestants. The paintings must be delivered to Museu Can Framis, C/ Roc Boronat 116-126, 08018, Barcelona, within the following times: from Tuesday to Saturday, 11h – 17h30 or Sunday, 11h – 13h30. Any artwork that does not comply with the conditions outlined herein will not be accepted. 7. RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The works that are not awarded with prizes must be collected from the museum on the specified dates. Artworks that are not collected on these dates will be freely available for use by the Foundation. Participating artists guarantee that they own the material that is entered to the competition and that they are full holders of the corresponding intellectual property. 8. PRIZES The winning artwork will receive a prize of €12,000, become property of the Fundació Vila Casas, form part of its permanent collection and may be exhibited at any of its museums or spaces. The winner of the Prize will hold a solo exhibition at Museu Can Framis, Barcelona, within a year of the prize being awarded. The judging panel may declare the prize void at any time. 9. RETURNS OF ARTWORKS The works that are not awarded with prizes must be collected from the museum between 30th October and 7th December 2025, within the following times. All works that have not been removed by 7th December 2025 will become freely available to the Foundation, without forming part of its collection.
