ESPAI A0
“PATRIM”, YNGLADA-GUILLOT AND ELISAVA DRAWING COMPETITION
During the 2019 summer season (lasting all of July), the Can Framis Museum is offering a number of projects, some of them linked to the academic sphere.
The Espai A0 is hosting two calls that the Fundació Vila Casas has been holding for over a decade. Both will be open to the public from 1 to 28 July.
First is Patrim, the name given to the exhibition dedicated every year to future artists. The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona brings together the works of all of the last year's students, which are exhibited the following year at the Fundació Vila Casas. This new exhibition, Patrim, is thus an outgrowth of that original exhibition, Untitled, held in 2018.
Those selected for this exhibition are: Andrea Martínez Arroyo, Eduard Mayor Urenda, Valeria Linera, Lídia Azagra Cabrerizo, Noemí Rodríguez Navarro, Óscar Moya Villanueva and Laura Gil Vidal.
This project offers visibility to young artists, who have the opportunity to exhibit in a museum as an introduction to the professional sphere. And considering the concerns of youth in general, it is unsurprising that these works take a critical (and even philosophical) view of our contemporary society.
The other call is the Ynglada-Guillot drawing competition, which brings the Fundació Ynglada-Guillot and the Fundació Vila Casas together every summer. Our organization provides its Barcelona exhibition spaces for the competition to offer a platform to the finalist drawings for the award.
In this edition, the first prize winner was Carolina Viñamata (Mexico City, 1964). In addition to the prizewinning work, at this exhibition the artist will show a dozen proposals she has created on paper using different techniques such as India ink, watercolor and etching.
The Fundació Ynglada-Guillot was created in 1959 and maintains its firm commitment to drawing in the arts. Since 1989 the winning drawings have been kept at the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.
Lastly, the Miquel Martí i Pol gardens will host an outdoor show, (a)simetrías. Here the building's external walls serve as an attractive mount for the photographs exhibited. The exhibition opened on 18 May and can be visited until 15 December 2019.
The works on exhibition belong to students of the Master's Degree in Photography and Design of Elisava, who created their photographic projects around the museum over a week of intense work.
A stroll through the gardens thus complements what is found inside: the above-mentioned temporary exhibitions together with the Fundació Vila Casas's permanent collection of paintings.
