“I met the musician and actress Keeley Forsyth in a bar in the British city of Leeds. It was the first time we had met and we hugged each other straight away (when hugging was still a possibility), we smiled and sat down for a coffee. Split Design, the studio who designed her album Debris, had put us in touch with each other and, if we got on well, they wanted me to take some photographs of her. The studio understood very well that the connection between the photographer and the person who is photographed is key for the final result and they were right in our case. A few weeks later I took the train from Leeds to Knaresborough, where Keeley had her studio, and we spent four or five hours together. We were not in a rush: we took some photographs, ate some cheap sandwiches from the nearby shop, and chatted and enjoyed the specialness of that time. We found many ways to use the space which was in effect a blank page on which to work.” Maria Alzamora
