Junyi Sun

“Junyi Sun danced in silence. We could hear the sounds of the city but when I say he danced in silence I mean in the absence of music. In that moment, disconnected from my own body, I felt disconcerted to see how someone was able to discover their own movement without the aid of an external melody: I was so focused on dealing with the movement in others, that I had forgotten to explore my own. Junyi moves with real delicacy; and with a great determination and power too. But it is the sensitivity that led me to play with my own movement. After taking these photos, I danced for weeks, even while I was waiting for the traffic lights to change.” Maria Alzamora
