“Every time I visited Azucena, I would look at the empty swimming pool in her garden and think that one day it would make a good location for a photo shoot. Expansive mono-colour walls have always caught my eye and this was the perfect place. Besides, as I prefer not to design the shoots beforehand and rather just let them develop in a more natural way, I enjoyed being there, exploring, passing the time, and the empty swimming pool remained there awaiting its day. Then one day in the summer 2020, during the semi-lockdown we were in, I went to see Azu and though we only had an hour to spare, we began to improvise and play. I remember well how the energy of her movement varied depending on where the action began; whether she danced from her chest, head or belly, each movement was different.” Maria Alzamora
