Gonçal Sobrer (Barcelona, 1932) is an artist who defies easy classification. With a career full of unexpected twists and daring actions, embracing the possibility of personal failure as a libertarian choice that has enabled him to denounce collective failure, he has created from the margins, making no concessions to either fashion or market logic. ‘A Great Failure’, the title of the exhibition at the Can Framis Museum of the Fundació Vila Casas, curated by Pere Pedrals, pays tribute to this radical and uncomfortable figure in Catalan art.
