The Maria Canals Competition welcomes a new artistic director and breaks its record for entries in its 71st edition. From among all the participants, the jury has selected 60 young pianists, representing 25 different nationalities, who will compete for a total of 80,000 euros in prize money. The first prize, awarded by the Fundación Occidente, comes with a cash prize of 25,000 euros and four paid concerts during the regular seasons of five Spanish orchestras. Second place, the María Font de Carulla Prize, comes with a cash prize of 10,000 euros, and third place, the Fundación Vila Casas Prize, comes with a cash prize of 6,000 euros.
