Opening: Thursday 29th January, 6 p.m.
La taille d’un sac, la forme d’une poche (The size of a bag, the shape of a pocket) presents a selection of recent work by Toni Giró (Barcelona, 1966) in an exhibition that explores different types of poetic and political resistance towards the homogenizing mechanisms of the contemporary economic system.
Giró takes inspiration from the readings and semantic shifts in the book The Shape of a Pocket, by John Berger, and defends anonymity as a strategy to confront the current global capitalist machine. The project challenges the prevailing hyperbolic individualism through the use of the mask, understood as a tool to fight, paradoxically, the opacity of political formations subjected to the dictates of the economy.
