Homenatge a Catalunya (Homage to Catalonia) is the commission that Antoni Vila Casas did for the prestigious international photographer Frank Horvat (Opatija, Croatia, 1928) at a time, at the turn of the century, when the present was opening up to a hopeful future. The current artistic proposal is based on a premise of the collector who finds in the photographer the possibility of capturing a past time and is indebted to the legacy that outlives us. The photographer’s approach is focused, therefore, on the legacy of ancestral people who rebel against the homogenizing process of globalization and who find their main source of inspiration in the mix of cultures and cross-cultural relationships.
