Opening: Wednesday, March 23rd, at 7 pm.
Between May and June 2019, the multidisciplinary artist Anna Ill (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1990) took part in the Jiser residency programme in Tunis. While she was in North Africa, she conceived the Entrelacé (Intertwine) project: a set of works that evoke the journey taken by the young Dido – founder of Carthage – in her desire to lay down roots and settle. From this premise of introspection and exploration of one’s origins, Anna Ill '(re)interprets', in a contemporary style, the story of this key figure in classical mythology to whom Virgil himself dedicated chapter 4 of Aeneid. The exhibition, Et Elissa devint Didon (And Elissa became Dido), curated by Natàlia Chocarro, will be on at Centre Cultural La Mercè in Girona, from 23rd March to 27th May, 2022.
