This exhibition by Fundació Vila Casas, curated by Natàlia Chocarro, presents a selection of works taken from its permanent collection, on the theme of evil and its many manifestations. It includes a collection of works by well-known national artists, who find a possibility of redemption in the image. We can see the work dedicated to the historical memory of the duo Bleda & Rosa – with “Cavea (Serie ciudades) Saelices” – and the striking sequence by Santos Montes “El paseo” which enter into dialogue with the overwhelming works by Xavier Ribas and the “Sèrie Flors” or the “Sèrie Rota” by Carmen Mariscal. Pain and evil take on different guises and we are not always aware of their presence; testament to this are the terrifying portraits by Valentín Vallhonrat and the restrained dance of an imprisoned woman by Isabel Rocamora. The exhibition ends with the hermeticism of the work by Sabela Eiriz, Anna Malagrida and Mar Arza – an exploration of concealment. This is a new opportunity to discover the value of this emblematic collection of contemporary art.
