After the retrospective Villèlia, creador de mons onírics held in 2014 at the Can Mario Museum in Palafrugell, the Espai Volart is putting on a new solo exhibition entitled Villèlia, curated by the Fundació Vila Casas director of art Glòria Bosch and the artist’s son Nahum Villèlia. The show brings together work from the artist’s final creative period spanning from 1977 to 1991.
Moisès Villèlia (Barcelona, 1928-1994) was a constructor of floating forms in space and one of the major figures of the avant-garde movement which broke with Informalism to explore Conceptualism. Carvings, works in bamboo and webs are the three main sculptural groupings appearing in this display, which consists of some 30 pieces of great artistic maturity from one of Villèlia’s most creative periods.
