Landscapes are full of scars which bear witness to the actions of forces in nature such as the wind, climate, water, lightning and human beings. The farmer scars the earth with the plough to sow seeds which will grow into new lives, and our bodies also retain many scars of life, beginning with the marks from our birth.
Adalina Coromines (Barcelona, 1963), in Cicatrius (Scars) shows her willingness to express her identification with her surroundings and with the nature that she is close to, and she experiences them with a great intensity. There could be a dramatic interpretation that leads us to talk about the cauterization of some wounds but instead, it becomes a serene, calm work that takes pleasure in enjoying the earth, flora, sea and sky in the Empordà, where she lives and works.
