Opening: Tuesday 26th May, 7 p.m.
We find ourselves inside an eye, a chamber that opens itself to the outside and produces images. However, in the excessive light, in the offering of everything to the gaze, there is a radical scarcity. The organ is exhausted, as are we. What would it take for us to see again?
Through a free interpretation of a piece of a Renaissance painting, the exhibition poses this possibility: if our visionary faculties are extinguished, we will need new eyes to grow, we will need gestures that reach beyond what our exhausted vision can see. They say that action is not possible without fantasy, fantasy is at the root of movement, and that is why we must persist in the exercise of the imagination.
My work is a research into surfaces, into the imaginary folds that we call reality. The stories and images emerge simultaneously with the lived experience: they arrange it, give it form and meaning, and allow it to circulate. I explore these questions through sculptures, actions and audiovisual works, both in their sensitive and their narrative dimension, mobilizing, channelling and elaborating reserves of material and imaginary energy.
