Bruno Ollé in Residence at the Institut Narcís Monturiol.
With the following students: Karen Alias, Luna Amatya, Zoe Asensio, Marta Camins, Paula de la Fuente, Ona Elías, Alba Galipienso, Saioa Guerrero, Teeranada Ketsallee (Bonus), Paula López, Hugo Marín, Carla Martínez, Alejandro Ramírez, Ruben Reyes, Pol Rodríguez, Harolyn Rodríguez, Yago Rodríguez, Sara Sánchez, Milena Sureda and David Todolí; and the teacher Sara Elías.
The exhibition Nacer de un trámite (Born from a procedure) arises from the encounter of two universes, that of the artist Bruno Ollé and that of the young people in the fourth grade in ESO [secondary school] at the Institut Narcís Monturiol, within the framework of the tenth edition of the programme for Creadors EN RESiDÈNCIA (Creators in residence), promoted by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona and the Associació A Bao A Qu.
Based on the disconcerting meeting between the artist and students, and the journey of discovery that the students undertook during the 2018/19 academic year, the resulting work shows some indecipherable banners created from shared thoughts and ideas which the students have been formulating in conversations, questionnaires and various text assignments. These objects, which can now be seen at the Museu Can Framis, were paraded by the students themselves on several joint outings through the Montbau neighbourhood. Thus, the banners show a willingness to communicate yet at the same time, the difficulty or great distance to understanding.
EN RESiDÈNCiA, conceived in cooperation with the Associació A Bao A Qu, invites artists to create an artwork specially designed to be made together with a group of ESO [secondary school] students. The students take part in the conception and creation of the artwork in class time throughout the school year.
There are three aims behind this direct contact between art and education: encourage students to discover the processes involved in contemporary creativity through contact and ongoing dialogue with the artist, and to reflect on art based on their own experience; promote and create situations and contexts which stimulate artistic innovation and creativity; encourage institutions to actively become places for culture, art and thought, and be welcoming to creativity and artistic experimentation and innovation.
