The exhibition Miró, Gaudí, Gomis. The magical sense of art coorganized with, and drawing from the permanent collection of, the Fundació Miró; and curated by Teresa Montaner and Ester Ramos – highlights the creative affinities of the artists as seen through the photographs by Joaquim Gomis, who was the first president of the foundation and also a great promoter of Antoni Gaudí’s work. The photobooks that Gomis published in the fifties – with the support of Joan Prats, arts promoter and key figure in the creation of the Fundació Miró – reveal deeply shared interests between the two artists: the relationship with nature, the spirit of risk and the coincidences in processes and materials for expression, among other aspects.
The exhibition presents a selection of sculptures by Joan Miró, which enter into dialogue with the photographs that Gomis took of Gaudí’s architecture; along with the set of engravings “Sèrie Gaudí” (Gaudí series) that Miró made, in 1979, homage to the architect.
