Between 19 January and 29 April 2012, Espai Volart2 presents the exhibition “Romà Vallès”. With a selection of pieces handpicked by the curators Isabel Vallès, the artist’s daughter, and the art historians Ricard Planas and Glòria Bosch, the show highlights, via his use of collage, drawing and photography, the parallels and affinities between his early work and his most recent.
A notable exponent of Catalan Informalism, which emerged in the form of a new pictorial genre – abstraction - in the 1950’s as a rejection of the political repression suffered by the country, the career of the artist spans different periods where colour, material and gestural expression all compete for attention.
