The latest edition of the Dialogues with the Collection series is an exercise in looking for affinities between the photographic work of Màrius Brossa (Barcelona, 1950) and work by the artist from the Fundació Vila Casas collection, Margarita Andreu (Cercs, 1953 – Barcelona, 2013).
The aim of these dialogues is to offer new insights into the permanent collection by establishing points of contact between very different artists. On this occasion, the artists on show shared interests and a studio on Carrer Banys Nous in 1982 and, analysing the work of each of them retrospectively, we can see how the photographic gaze of Brossa influenced the pictorial language of Andreu and vice versa. Without fully realizing it, the two artists shared much more than a studio during that time; they each set out on a common creative quest which we invite you to discover in Mar i Mar (Sea and Sea).
