Eugeni Forcano (Barcelona, 1926) is one of the most outstanding photographers of Barcelona in the 1960s and 1970s, a period which coincided with the arrival of tourism, urban expansion, the spread of the automobile and the end of a cycle relating to old customs and traditions. With his own innovative language, Forcano reveals a profound humanism mixed with an ironic sense of humour, portraying an energetic and straight-forward society that acts naturally in front of the camera.
The series Life Caught in Mid-Flight, taken on the streets, brings together documentary and social photography, and lends its name to the exhibition. While, "Inciting Chance through Light" brings together a series of experimental works where chance and analogical procedures are manipulated to create images aesthetically related to abstract art. Finally, the series From Reality to Dream, presents Forcano’s work as a fashion photographer, where the glamor of the models is set against an unexpected primitivism.
