Emili Armengol (Barcelona, 1943), despite starting work crafting precious metals, is known as a sculptor who explores undersea themes and the female form, which contrast with a desire to achieve geometric equilibrium. Since the 1980’s he has worked on a monumental scale, with pieces in Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, Pierre Sur Mer, Castellar de n’Hug, and Gran Vía in Barcelona. In 2007 he was made Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres for his contribution to French culture.
