Manel Esclusa (Vic, 1952) crafts enigmatic narratives in black and white by use of long-exposure photography. His series Naus (Boats), which appears in the museum’s collection, is a reflection on night time as a space for creation and articulates, using the boat as its starting point, oppositions – the absence vs the presence of light, fantasy vs experience, and the movement of a solid object vs the liquid fluidity of light. This An Artist from the Collection exhibition, dedicated to his Naus series, is complemented by the exhibition Pell i ombra (Skin and Shadow), which can be viewed until 22 May and explores the city as a setting for darkness and silence.
