The self-taught painter and photographer Francesc Serra (Barcelona, 1877-1967) became part of the artistic and cultural circles of Modernisme thanks to his work as a recorder of the movement's artworks. His documentary legacy is so vast that today he is considered an important chronicler of modern and contemporary art. His best-known work is a series of portraits of artists he did between 1902 and 1915, revealing a profoundly human and intimate side to creative genius. The exhibition will open in Palau Solterra on 2 February, and Serra’s work will be laid out in thematic sections; en “plein air”, “painter and model”, “women”, “family”, and “close ups”, amongst others.
