Considered one of the main practitioners of New York school Abstract Expressionism and clearly influenced by De Kooning and Gorky, Grau is showing a selection of paintings and drawings dating from the late 1980’s to 2008. Displaying an apparent spontaneity, Grau’s work builds on the superimposition of pictorial layers to create a dense atmosphere, where intertwined shapes expand and contract at a dizzying speed, which goes beyond the tangible.
