Antoni Pitxot, born into an artistic family (Figueres, 1934), was both a collaborator and a friend of Dalí’s and started working with a type of realist expressionism which, after he settled in Cadaqués in the 1960’s, moved deep into surrealism. Via a complex creative process – the artist makes elaborate maquettes with stones from Empordà and Cadaqués which, according to their anthropomorphic significance, he uses as models for his canvases – the show traces a line through the various themes the painter works with, such as the allegory of music or the allegory of memory and time.
