Manuel Solà (Barcelona, 1950) is having a retrospective show of his work at Can Mario comprising of over 50 pieces, including sculptures and paintings. Although his initial interest was in painting, it was not long before he set out on a lone path towards sculpture, making his work more experimental and giving it a symbolic dimension. Almost like an archaeologist, Solà sifts through the strata that make up his immediate surroundings to construct artefacts from memory; works bearing traces of DNA immortalising the history of humanity.
