Ejercicios mínimos para un Jardín de invierno (Minimum exercises for a Winter Garden) is a project by Inés Molina that addresses the relationship between the perception of images and the narration of history. The piece is based on an anthropological triptych by Pierre Petit, inside the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris, during the ethnographic exhibitions on 12th October 1888. The project is composed of several Exercises carried out in digital and analogue photography, photocopies, photo-engraving, engraving and mixed media combining these techniques. Each Exercise tackles a particular issue featured in the triptych and, all together, they pose questions about the origins of nineteenth century anthropological photographs.
