La Gran Bellesa (The Great Beauty) is a photographic installation conceived for Museu Can Framis by students on the ELISAVA Master’s Degree in Photography and Design (2022-23), in collaboration with Fundació Vila Casas. The exhibition celebrates the lives of elderly people who live in Poblenou district. A mixed-nationality group of young photographers get to know people, whom they would not otherwise have met, who open up their lives to them and share their life stories. The portraits that emerge from this collaboration aim to challenge the stereotypes that still prevail about the elderly, and focus instead on the energy and charisma, so often overlooked, that radiate from them. The team’s perspective is through the lens of joy, as they seek to define the happiness and well-being that characterize the later stages in life.
