Lídia Masllorens (Caldes de Malavella, 1967) presents Prova d’artista (Artist’s Proof), a show conceived and directed by Glòria Bosch which brings together some twenty large-format pieces made between 2014 and 2019. The exhibition includes some of the artist’s best known works, her “portraits” and “non portraits” representing male and female characters using monotype technique. Masllorens depicts faces showing joy, pain, suffering, disappointment and effort, all of which she takes from photographic montages produced by the great stylists of our times: magazine photographers who portray ideal male and female faces.
Complimenting this family of faces is the “Zoom” series, which consists of details that normally go unnoticed by the naked eye: technical effects and defects, splashes and tiny bubbles. Here, the microscopic details that Masllorens consecrates and magnifies take the leading role in order to demonstrate that it is the tiny details, where wrinkles, expressions and nuances hide, which bring her characters to life.
