Thanks to his appreciation of art, the successful lawyer Ventura Garcés (Barcelona, 1930-2008) built up an extensive collection that had always remained in the private sphere. Now his heirs have decided to put it on show as a tribute to one of the most passionate collectors of the art of the second half of the 20th century. With an understanding of art that was more instinctual than erudite, Garcés created a collection that brought together figurative currents of a noucentista type with the Matterist influenced movements of Arte Povera, Magicism and Geometrism. Pieces by Hernàndez Pijuan, Amat, Aguilar, Agustí Puig, Lucio Muñoz, Feito, Millares, Saura, Bechtold, Pello Irazu, Alcaraz, Ruestes, Kiefer and Kounellis, amongst others, demonstrate the eye of this cosmopolitan Barcelona collector.
