Museu Can Mario and Museu del Suro de Catalunya
Museu del Suro de Catalunya and Fundació Vila Casas have come together to offer educational centres a unique experience at the heart of Baix Empordà, with an activity focused on cork and art. The activity will involve visits to both museums which are located opposite each other in Plaça Can Mario, Palafrugell.
Cork is a material that has a long history and its properties make it ideal for a wide variety of uses, including for artistic creation. In this hands-on educational experience, aimed at primary schools, the students are at the heart of the activity as we combine both concepts, of cork and art, in the form of a visit and workshop. The event involves a multidisciplinary curricular work with contents related to science, technique, creativity and art (STEAM) with a hands-on approach to the artistic and creative process.
We invite you to delve into the world of cork at Museu del Suro, where students will be able to discover the origins of this material, the methods used in identifying and selecting it, and to observe its different properties. In addition, they will enter the artistic world of contemporary sculptors at Museu Can Mario and analyse the diverse techniques used in sculpture and artistic expression.
Can cork also become art?
