The world of textiles is the guiding thread of the sculpture and installations by the artist from Barcelona, Marga Ximenez, who combines artistic practice with teaching and curating. She began by exploring techniques of tapestry, but her work quickly evolved into something more conceptual. She works with everyday objects and materials which enable her to tackle social issues. In order to distance her work from her own self and explore other identities, she started presenting her work under heteronyms, thus creating a whole series of characters with their own personality, such as Yukimaro, Pía Remedios, Feliu Esteve and Col·lectiu Puntes. She has exhibited her work at biennials dedicated to textile art, for example, at Vicenza, Italy (1991) and Lausanne, Switzerland (1992). From 1998 to 2016 she directed, along with Nora Ancarola, the exhibition space MX Espai 1010, and they received an award for the creation of MX Edicions 1010 from the Associació de Crítics de Catalunya (2004).
