Assumpció Mateu and her environment are a single idea, since her work reflects an emotional state, arising from the observation of nature. Her painting is intimate, where the landscape responds to a spiritual state of subjective analysis. In her work Mateu uses mixed media, combining photography with paint and paper. There are also material textures created with natural pigments, acrylics and marble dust, giving her work an aura of mystery and sublime beauty. She sets up a connection between poetry and painting through a constant dialogue between traces, shapes and iridescence. Both abstract and realist at once, her canvases are infused with countless colour drips and runs, meandering sensations of a precise instant that would seem to be slipping away.
