Carles Gabarró trained as an artist in the eighties, a time when neo-expressionist painting predominated and became his major influence. He applies paint onto the surface in thick layers and finds pleasure in the brutality, dripping and accident. Through this material painting he has built his own iconography characterized by the repetition of themes, objects and compositions. He understands creation as a result of scarcity, his compositions debate between figuration and abstraction, and often create dreamlike, grotesque and pessimistic phantasmagorical landscapes. He was awarded the first prize at the IX Bienal de Artes Plásticas de Vitoria-Gasteiz (1990).
Studied art and design in Barcelona, Milan and Bologna. She is an experimental artist who usually works on a methacrylate base and applies coloured pigments in vigorous brushstrokes, which immerses us in a very personal dreamlike world. Her working method inverts the usual steps by beginning with pictorial details and ending with more general terms. She also creates works on paper by making collages, seeking new textures and avoiding flat surfaces. She has exhibited in several European cities since 2004.
