Dialogues between works from the Art Galleries of Catalonia and the permanent collection of Can Framis of the Vila Casas Foundation
Six works of art will feature in the permanent collection at Can Framis, but only for a few weeks. We invite you come and enjoy them and discover the dialogue that is created between the visiting artworks and the hosting ones.
Visites inesperades (Unexpected visits) is a project run by the Galeries d’Art de Catalunya (GAC) as part of Art Week. This event is organized by GAC and takes place simultaneously at Museu Can Framis, run by Fundació Vila Casas in Barcelona, Museu de Maricel in Sitges, Museu de Lleida, and Museu d’Art Modern in Tarragona. The exhibitions feature twenty-two works in total, which were all selected from gallery back rooms and warehouses and many have previously been rarely viewed by the public. They are illustrative of the wide range of styles present in the forty member galleries. The itinerary for the four exhibitions includes works dating from the late nineteenth century to the present day, thereby showing work by different generations of artists but all viewed from a contemporary perspective.
The segment of the Visites inesperades event at Can Framis reveals dialogues that are essentially formal and aesthetic, such as the diptych by Anna Comellas (Galeria espaiGd’art), twinned with Antoni Clavé; the painting by Lluís Graner (Galeria Gothsland), alongside Ràfols Casamada; the sculpture by José Carlos Balanza (Canals Galeria d’Art), shown together with a large painting by Jordi Fulla. A sole goat created by Miquel Aparici (Villa del Arte Galleries) seems to have escaped from the painting by Robert Llimós. The photograph by Jordi Baron (Artur Ramon Art), despite originating from a totally different process, faces the painting by Julio Vaquero. And finally, a male nude, painted by Fabián Cháirez (Imaginart Gallery), presides over the gallery dedicated to the female nude.
We invite you to continue your enjoyment of this event by visiting the other participating museums and, of course, to further discover the works offered by the art galleries.
Exhibition curated by Montse Frisach.
