Cinemes Texas is screening the film El sopar by Pere Portabella as part of a programme of activities for the exhibition Pere Portabella: Cinema, Art and Politics, on at the Can Framis Museum.

Synopsis: On 2 March 1974, the day the anarchist activist Salvador Puig Antich was executed by garrotte, Pere Portabella filmed El sopar: five ex-political prisoners who had served long sentences meet together in secret and share their experiences of prison. In 2013 Portabella added a coda, fruit of conversations with Jordi Balló about his work El sopar i l’ombra e Puig Antich, and the recovery of footage Portabella shot of Oriol Arau, Salvador Puig Antich’s lawyer, on 13 November 1974.
