On 29th September 2016, the sculpture Socle des formes by Salvador Juanpere was finally installed in Plaça Augusta in Sant Cugat del Vallès, after Fundació Vila Casas had donated it to the city. It is the end of an itinerary that had commenced long before with the conception of the idea; but it is also the beginning of a new journey for the sculpture, now delivered to the world, laid onto the ground, crying out its message.
And the night draws in: the passing from one reality to another, the turning of the page. That is why the sculptor watches over their sculpture on the first night, as Juanpere says, “the work finally ceases to be yours, when you know it will live in another place, with other people. It’s like having a child: they’re your child, but you want them to live their own life”.
Jordi Lara, as part of his research into literature and image, suggested to Juanpere that he should watch over the sculpture that first night. As he told him, “A place is not completely yours until you have slept there overnight”. This is the result.
The screening of the short film will be accompanied by a conversation between Jordi Lara and Salvador Juanpere, moderated by Àlex Susanna.
Date: Thursday 25th April, 6.30 p.m.
