Luis Claramunt (Barcelona, 1951–Zarautz, 2000) sought to live a free and outsider life so that he could paint how he wanted to. Two friends from his youth, Lluís Cabrera and Josep Maria Solé i Sabaté, and the curators of the exhibition, Sílvia Martínez Palou and Àlex Susanna, will explore the artist’s formative years in Barcelona. Those were fifteen years – from 1970 to 1985 – in which life and work converged in expressionist and pictorially dark paintings, drawings and engravings, full of motifs inspired by the urban reality that surrounded him or by the adventure novels he loved so much.
