Can Framis, Barcelona
In 1966, Gonçal Sobrer organized what is considered the first documented happening in Spain, titled Soberbia, on the Rambla del Poblenou. Through such actions, Sobrer broke with traditional art, brought popular culture to the forefront, and transformed everyday life into an artistic experience, while also establishing himself as a pioneering figure in the development of performance art and conceptual art in Catalonia.
Thus, evoking the nonconformist and groundbreaking spirit of Gonçal Sobrer, we are organizing a performance-based afternoon as part of the exhibition A big failure at the Can Framis Museum.
Featuring artistic interventions by Quim Pujol (Varietats pel Gonçal) and Llapispanc (No m’agrada passar per la porta principal.).
Date: Thursday, May 7, 6:30 p.m.
Location: Can Framis Museum
Duration: 1 hour
Free admission with prior registration.

Varietats pel Gonçal
Following the model of variety theater, where acts often last only a few minutes, Quim Pujol proposes a series of short interventions in relation to specific works in Gonçal Sobrer’s exhibition A big failure.
Some of these proposals stem from his own practice and resonate naturally with Sobrer’s work. Other interventions have been designed specifically for A big failure to reflect on xava art, queer processes of identification, the condition of the artist in Catalonia, or experiments that artists hide away in drawers for reasons best left unsaid.
Quim Pujol (1978) works across poetry, live performance, and contemporary art. His most recent live art projects include El missatge d'altres mons (2021), Varietat de varietats (2023), and Poema contorsionista (2024). He has participated in exhibitions such as ‘Interval. Accions sonores’ at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, ‘Visceral Blue’ at La Capella, and ‘entre, hacia, hasta, para, por, según, sin’ at the EACC. Together with Ixiar Rozas, he edited the volume on affective theory “Ejercicios de ocupación” (Edicions Polígrafa, 2015) and is the author of “Other Forms of Presence” (Varamo Press, 2024) and “The Chroma Series” (Selva Oscura, 2025). He has curated La Estrategia Doméstica (2009–2010), the Secció Irregular at the Mercat de les Flors (2011–2015), and the PICNIC Sessions at CA2M (2023). He is currently curating the Sâlmon festival (2025–2026).
