Record could be defined as a song in progress, whose rhythm, harmony, and melody are generated through movement. We present on stage the result of an exploration of the sonic possibilities that movement can offer us, and we play with the line that separates musical composition from choreographic composition. The body, costumes, voice, and stage, in conjunction with various recording and sound processing devices, function as active instruments that compose this performance and sound piece.
Mar Garcia (Choreography: Institut del Teatre, UV) and Javi Soler (Musical Direction: ESMUC, UV) explore the relationship between movement and sound on stage, both of which serve as central elements of the performance. Their work is characterized by a concrete approach to stage material and a deliberate effort to connect with the audience. Furthermore, their style and compositional approach seek to combine technical references from contemporary composition with references drawn from their generational context and the collective imagination.
Since 2021, they have held residencies at venues such as El Teatre L'Artesà in Prat de Llobregat, El Teatro Calderón in Valladolid, L'Estruch in Sabadell, Rocaumbert in Granollers, La Caldera, El Graner, El Corralito x TNT, Farrera CAN, and San Simón (RPM Collective). Their works have been presented at venues such as El Mercat de les Flors, the Teatre Principal d'Olot, Madrid en Danza, Dansa Metropolitana, Dansa València, SAÓ, the Joan Miró Foundation, Límbic, and Lugar Futuro in Portugal. They also carry out outreach activities in collaboration with El Mercat de les Flors (En Residència), La Caldera (La Cora), Teatre L’Artesà (Survival Kit or Camins Vius), among others.
