Once again, museums all over Europe are opening their doors for the night of 21 May. Can Framis Museum has organised a series of activities to mark this special occasion. This year there are three to choose from.
Open doors day:
Collection of contemporary Catalan painting
Exhibition: Ràfols-Casamada. Painting.
Free entry from 7 pm to 1 am to the Can Framis Museum to view its collection of over 300 pieces by world-famous, established and emerging contemporary Catalan artists, as well as a temporary exhibition of work by Albert Ràfols-Casamada entitled Painting, a vindication of painting and the place of his oeuvre in the history of Catalan art.
Art in loop
Between 7 pm and 12 midnight, the Can Framis Museum will be holding a total of 12 guided visits centring on the painting collection and the architecture of the building. There will be roughly one visit every hour: sessions of art and architecture repeated in a loop so that you do not miss the opportunity to discover an important collection of Catalan art, or enjoy an example of modern architecture that provides a new reading for an old textile factory from the end of the 18th century.
In the studio
We are celebrating Museum Night by setting up a date between art and its muse: a creative session with art students in real time, open for viewing and participation from the general public. From 9 pm to 11 pm students from the Poblenou Academy of Art will set up their easels and canvases in the square outside Can Framis and reproduce the inspirational and working environment of an archetypal painter’s studio. Everyone is invited to grab a brush and wait for the arrival of their muse.
*Activity may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
