We are continuing our collaboration with the Festival Espurnes Barroques to present Jardí en blau, a visual installation by the Barcelona-based artist Jose Bonell. Going beyond the language of painting, his installation at the Santuari del Miracle will engage both with Mozart’s Requiem, performed by the Orquestra del Miracle, and with this year’s festival motto: In somnium (Latin for ‘towards the dream’).
Bonell’s work is based on the reading and interpretation of dreams, creating a play of images and elements with historical, literary and personal references that lean towards the dreamlike and humorous. With his installation, which will be situated mainly in the unfinished part of the church, Bonell will open the doors to a magical garden, conceived as a transition towards the metaphor of the dream as a desire for eternity.
On Saturday 30 May at 3.30 pm, visitors will be able to view the installation in the company of the artist, Jose Bonell, and the director of Espurnes Barroques, Josep Barcons. (Booking required at www.espurnesbarroques.cat).
