Dialogue between Aitor Quiney, curator of the exhibition Rhythm and Matter by Marcel Martí, and Manuel Gimeno, collector.
On the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the sculptor Marcel Martí i Badenas (Alvear, Argentina, 1925–Palafrugell, Girona, 2010), this exhibition aims to revisit, many years since his last exhibition, the complete works of this artist, not just his sculptures but also the drawings which Martí saw as a fundamental part of his creative process and as a work of art in its own right. Never-previously-exhibited works will be on show, from his beginnings within a stylized realism, from the post-war years to his final works creating forms from different materials using his hands. Our aim is, therefore, to place Marcel Martí among the great names in twentieth-century Catalan sculpture.
