The book Arrels pictòriques. Diàleg entre Corbella i Chieh (Pictorial roots. A dialogue between Corbella and Chieh) proposes an intercultural pictorial dialogue featuring twenty works of art by each artist – Domènec Corbella, from Catalonia, and Wang Chieh, from Keelung (Taiwan) – who have drawn inspiration from landscapes from their respective places of origin: the Vall del Corb and Chidu. Corbella and Chieh are two artists with long-established careers and two ways of observing, capturing, understanding, thinking, assimilating and identifying with the landscape of their roots. Thus, the book interrelates two worlds, two cultures and two landscapes in an authentic and deep way, and creates a yin-yang drawn from two graphic, pictorial and stylistic languages, which tend to synthesis and mimesis, respectively. This dialogue in no way seeks confrontation, but rather a differentiated interaction of landscapes created using dry and liquid techniques in tune with the morphology of two territories that are so distant and contrasting.
