Who could tell that when we delve into the historical archives there is not always a legendary mix? Is it not the case that mythology, heroic poetry and the glorification of events – which when you scratch the surface were perhaps not quite as significant as time has subsequently recognised them to be – have modified the interpretation of what actually happened? What is the origin of the name of this city? Who, or what, designated the first name to the city? We explore the distinction between legend and reality. And, we go further – into the link between the foundation of Barcelona and the Empordà.
