The Vila Casas Foundation Celebrates 40 Years of History
Celebrating everything we can become
This 2026, the Vila Casas Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary, four decades of history marked by a commitment to society, first in the field of health and, since the year 2000, also through contemporary art.
Founded in 1986 by the pharmacist
Antoni Vila Casas (Barcelona, 1930–2023), the Foundation was born with the aim of promoting health-related initiatives. Twenty years later, Vila Casas expanded this commitment to contemporary art, convinced that culture is also a path to well-being, knowledge, and collective expression, as well as a way to project Catalonia to the world.
"When society has been good to you, you must be good to society," Antoni Vila Casas often stated. This conviction has been one of the guiding principles of the Foundation throughout its history and continues to inspire its work today.
Throughout these four decades, artists, professionals, and collaborators have helped build a shared project, rooted in the country and open to everyone. This anniversary is therefore an opportunity to recognize all the people who have made this journey possible and to celebrate the path built together.
To celebrate these four decades of art and health together, on the weekend of
November 7 and 8, we are opening the doors of the four Vila Casas Foundation museums with free admission and a special program of activities.
