Francesc Artigau - L'Exaltació del quotidià

DATES
19/04/2012 - 24/06/2012
LOCATION
Espais Volart, Barcelona

La Batalla de Sant Pere (The Battle of Saint Peter), a previously unshown large-format work done for this exhibition, and other pieces from various periods are the core of this exhibition which, entitled Francesc Artigau and curated by Glòria Bosch, highlights the outstanding role of the painter in the development of the recent history of Catalan art. Representative of new figuration, the art of Artigau (Barcelona, 1940) investigates “the people” as subject matter, with vigorous brushstrokes and an intense palette giving the display as a whole an atmosphere of precarious harmony, with tension provided by the lines that delimit washes of colour and emphasise the ironic and cutting approach of the painter.
