Víctor Dolz (Begur, 1945) presents Extreme Resolution. Homage to my Good Friend Dídac García, in the Empordà gallery at the Can Mario Museum. The display consists of a triptych emerging from shadow as a tribute to portraiture, a genre in which the artist has worked since his early days.
His painting is characterised by its energetic, expressionistic and savage language which often borders on the distressing. The disturbing portrait, free of all masks and filters, is paramount to the creative act of Dolz, who has portrayed the same sitters almost obsessively over the years. He tends to paint triptychs and series of the same person as a way of exploring their inner selves via several versions, gradually laying bare that which is hidden in each of us.
