“The place and the position we site ourselves when taking a photograph determine our viewpoint. In my case, my viewpoint is at eyelevel since I aim to produce formal and descriptive portraits. I am not looking for originality.” With these words, the curator and photographer Eugeni Prieto (Tortosa, 1950) reveals what is behind this compilation of 40 portraits of artists linked to the Fundació Vila Casas (they have work in the foundation’s collection or have exhibited in one of its centres). Under the cycle "Diàlegs amb la col·lecció", the various photos constitute a mural which sparks off dialogue with the portrait of Antoni Vila Casas Somiant by Pere Formiguera. It is, ultimately, an act revealing the gaze of the artist behind the work, a scenographic gesture that breathes life into creation.
