Cinemes Texas is screening Pere Portabella’s film Informe general as part of a cycle of activities connected to the exhibition Pere Portabella: Cinema, Art and Politics, on at the Can Framis museum.
Screenings:
Synopsis: This film represents the synthesis of the overtly political clandestine films by Portabella and his milieu. Filmed a few months before the death of General Franco, it uses the techniques of fiction. An outlier in a body of work that aims to explore the limits of filmic representation, Informe general deals with future political representation in the Spanish transition with a markedly democratic tone at odds with its virtual invisibility for 30 years. The appearances all revolve around a single question, How to move from dictatorship to the rule of law?
